Group Swim Lessons:   Facility Age Policy
 

Group swim lessons are a great way for your child to learn swimming skills, water safety and the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect & Responsibility.

All classes have a maximum of 8 students to 1 instructor; minimum of 3 students to run the class. If a class is full you may be put on a waiting list. Participants will be notified of any class cancellations by 6:00pm on the Saturday prior to the first scheduled lesson. Please stop by the front desk to sign up.

Swimming Lesson Schedule
   
       
Private Lessons:      
  Private swim lessons are a great way to give your child the individual attention they need. Lessons are 30 minutes in length and are sold in four lesson packages. A YMCA instructor will work one on one with your child to teach them the skills they need for a lifetime of aquatics safety and fun.    
 
 
 
       
  YMCA Member single child - $60/4 sessions    
  two children same family – $80/4 sessions    
       
  Non Member single child - $100/4 sessions    
  two children same family - $120/4 sessions    
       
  Group Lesson Class Descriptions    
       
Shrimp / Perch:            
Ages 6 - 36 Months
Parent and child perform activities based on the developmental abilities of the child. This play-date in the water allows children to explore the water in a fun and social way. Parent participation in the water is required.
   
             
Pike: (Beginner)            
Ages 3 - 5
This class is for children that have very little if any swimming experience at all. They will learn to put their face in the water, paddle on there front, back and side with support. The class is taught through a series of songs and games to develop a trust and enjoyment of water. This class may need to be repeated several times.
   
             
Ray: (Beginner Advanced)        
Ages 3 - 5 This class is for children who have some swimming experience. They must be able to fully submerge their face in the water, paddle on their front, back and side at least 5 feet without any support, and float comfortably on their front and back with support.    
             
Polliwog: (Beginner)        
Ages 6 & up

This class is for children that have very little if any swimming experience at all. They will learn to put their face in the water, paddle on their front, back and side with support. This class may need to be repeated several times.

   
             
Guppy: (Beginner Intermediate)    
Ages 6 & up This class is for children who have some swimming experience. They must be able to fully submerge their face in the water, paddle on their front, back and side at least 20 feet without support, and float comfortably on their front and back without any support. They must also be able to jump into the deep and paddle to the side unassisted.    
             
Minnow: (Intermediate 1)    
Ages 6 & up This class is for children who have more advanced swimming experience. Participants must be able to tread water for 40 seconds, float comfortably on their front and back for 60 seconds, swim on their front 25 yards, and swim on their back 25 yards without any support. They must also be able to jump into the deep and paddle to the side unassisted.    
             
Fish: (Intermediate 2)      
Ages 6 & up This class is for children who have more advanced swimming experience. Participants must be able to tread water for 1 minute, swim front crawl, back crawl, basic elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke for 25 yards.    
           
Flying Fish: (Advanced 1)      
Ages 6 & up This class is for children who have more advanced swimming experience. Participants must be able to tread water for 3 minutes, dive from a standing position, and float comfortably on back for a long period of time. Swim front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke for 50 yards, and swim butterfly for 15 yards.
